Italian and Spanish (more common in the latter country): from Latin Cyriācus, Greek Kyriakos, a derivative of kyrios lord. This was a very popular name among early Christians, who chose it as a token of their devotion to their Lord, and it was borne by a very large number of minor saints of the first centuries AD.
